Band Director: Kyle Ferland

I’ll be completing my sixth year in the 2023-24 band season as Director of Bands at Winter Springs High School. Previously, I taught at Crystal River High School, Deltona Middle School, and most recently Wekiva High School in Apopka, FL. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Stetson University and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Florida State University. From 2002-2004, I was a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2005, I joined the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps for my age out year.

I am currently a member of the Florida Bandmaster’s Association, Florida Music Educator’s Association, National Association for Music Education, and National Band Association. I am also a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America. I remain an active performer with the Southern Winds Ensemble.

I’m honored and excited to continue the tradition of excellence established by the Winter Springs High School band program. To make things even better, I’m thrilled to work alongside with my wife, Kara Ferland, who has been the (awesome) chorus teacher at Winter Springs High School for her entire career.

Outside of teaching and playing music, I enjoy road cycling, playing basketball, and spending time with my wife Kara, my adorable daughter Mckenzie Joy, and my dog Rachmaninoff (Rachy).
